FAIRY QUEEN

installation, as part of the exhibition L'envers et l'endroit, 104 Centquatre, Paris, 2012

Fairy Queen is a cinematographic experience directed by Jean-Paul Civeyrac, based on Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. An installation inspired by the film was presented at 104 CENTQUATRE Art Centre. The exhibition featured different elements of the movie: the set and costumes, photographs and a making of.

When the viewer first entered the gallery space, an imposing fantasised tree trunk stood up to him. This reconstitution of Fairy Queen’s oneiric set hid an unexpected wooden structure. When the viewer walked around the platform, he discovered photograhies, videos, props and a model. This poetical walk was ponctuated by floating haunting costumes hanged to the ceilling.

Installation realised in collaboration with Benoit Julienne, Lucie Calise, Valentine Busquet, Clara Rea, Marion Flamand, Jimme Cloo

Premiered at 104 Centquatre Paris and presented at Locarno Film Festival

As first assistant of the film director Jean-Paul Civeyrac, I actively took part in the making of the movie from making proposals for the scenario and the artistic and logistical preparations, to the actual shooting including the design of sets and costumes, and organising the shooting plan. I also worked closely with Victor Decasteja, also assistant of the director. My role while filming was to manage the teams and assist the director with overseeing the monitor, going from a three dimensional set with the movement of the actors and the camera to a two dimensional screen.
