In November 204, Sophie Kitching was invited to celebrate the 6th Anniversary of JOALI Maldives in partnership with Maison Ruinart. Commissioned to transform ecodesigned second skins Champagne bottles with her signature painting skills involving vivid colours and gold and copper leaf. Sophie draws inspiration from the island’s native plants, elusive grey herons and sea birds, colourful corals and vibrant fish as her muse. During her residency, Sophie created a hand-painted bar and a large painted fabric stretched on the beach for the night of the anniversary. Her painting ‘Invisible Green XXX’, 2023 is exhibited in the Mura Bar, embodying JOALI’s commitment to art, nature and sustainability.
